Shares of several cryptocurrency companies are trading higher Thursday, as the price of Bitcoin rises and after lawmakers in El Salvador approved a law that will regulate bond sales backed by crypto assets.
Slightly before the close of regular trading, Bitcoin had risen 5.7% to trade at $18,929, according to FactSet.
At 3:50 p.m. ET, shares of Hive Blockchain Technologies Ltd. were trading 36.26% higher, at 3.14 per share. Volume at the time topped 4.3 million shares, above the stock’s 65-day average volume of some 1 million shares.
Around the same time, Marathon Digital Holdings Inc. shares were up 31.06% at $7.03 per share. Volume was just below 60 million shares at the time, above the stock’s 65-day average volume of some 19 million shares.
Riot Platforms Inc. shares were up 13.87% before the closing bell, trading at $6.11 each. The stock moved over 24.3 million shares, above its 65-day average volume of just under 11 million shares.
